ABOUT MP4 CONVERTER

MP4 Converter converts compatible video files to MP4 directly on your device. It does not upload your video content to a conversion server.

You can import videos from Photos or Files, adjust conversion settings, and open or share the converted files.

No account, subscription, or in-app purchase is required. The app is supported by advertising.

SUPPORTED DEVICES

MP4 Converter is designed for:

• iPhone with iOS 15 or later

• iPad with iPadOS 15 or later

If Apple makes the iPhone or iPad version available on another compatible Apple device, some layout, file-selection, or performance behavior may differ.

HOW TO CONVERT A VIDEO

1. Open MP4 Converter.

2. Tap Select Video Files.

3. Choose videos from Photos or Files.

4. Select your conversion settings.

5. Tap Convert.

6. If an advertising screen appears, follow the displayed option.

7. Keep MP4 Converter open until processing finishes.

8. Open, share, or manage the result from the completion screen, Outputs, or Conversion History.

You can select up to 100 videos in one batch. Videos are processed one at a time. Large batches require sufficient free storage and may take longer.

SUPPORTED INPUT FILES

The iOS version accepts these file extensions:

3G2, 3GP, AVI, M2TS, M4V, MKV, MOV, MP4, MPEG, MPG, MTS, TS, and WEBM.

A supported extension does not guarantee that every file will convert. Compatibility also depends on the video and audio codecs inside the file, the file’s condition, and the capabilities of your device.

Damaged, incomplete, encrypted, DRM-protected, or otherwise unsupported files may not convert.

OUTPUT FORMAT

Converted files are saved as MP4.

When re-encoding is needed, the app uses H.264 video and AAC audio. Compatible video or audio streams may be copied without re-encoding when possible. Videos without audio, or videos converted with Remove Audio enabled, remain without audio.

CONVERSION OPTIONS

Available options include:

• Compatible MP4, Balanced, Smaller File, and Target Size modes

• Original, 480p, 720p, or 1080p resolution

• Original, 24, 30, or 60 FPS

• Start and end trimming

• Audio removal

• Mono or stereo audio

• Audio volume adjustment

• Video rotation

• Conversion speed and quality profiles

• Output filename and file-conflict options

• Batch conversion

• Conversion History

• Up to five saved presets

Target Size and estimated output sizes are estimates. The final size cannot be guaranteed because it depends on the source file and encoding process.

WHERE ARE CONVERTED FILES SAVED?

Open:

Files > Browse > On My iPhone or On My iPad > MP4 Converter > Processed Files

On some devices, the app folder may appear as “MP4Converter” without a space.

You can also open or share converted files directly from MP4 Converter.

DOES CONVERSION REQUIRE INTERNET?

The video conversion itself runs locally and does not require an internet connection.

Internet may still be required to:

• Download a selected file from iCloud Drive or another cloud provider

• Load advertisements

• Display advertising consent or privacy choices

• Send crash diagnostics

• Open external links or App Store pages

WHY DID MY CONVERSION FAIL?

Try the following:

• Make sure the source video is fully downloaded to the device.

• Confirm that the file is not damaged or DRM-protected.

• Check that your device has enough free storage.

• Select the file again from Photos or Files.

• Try a lower resolution or frame rate.

• Try a shorter section of the video.

• Keep MP4 Converter open and the device unlocked.

• Restart the app and retry the conversion.

• Try another compatible source file.

If the problem continues, contact support with the error message and conversion settings.

CAN CONVERSION CONTINUE IN THE BACKGROUND?

No. MP4 Converter currently performs conversions while the app is open in the foreground.

Switching apps, locking the device, or closing MP4 Converter may interrupt the conversion. Interrupted conversions do not resume automatically, but they may be retried manually through Conversion History.

WHY DID THE FILE SIZE OR QUALITY CHANGE?

The result depends on:

• The original video

• Video duration

• Source codecs

• Selected resolution and frame rate

• Audio settings

• Conversion mode

• Device hardware

• Available storage

Re-encoding can change visual quality and file size. Target Size results are approximate and may be larger or smaller than requested.

ARE MY ORIGINAL VIDEOS SAFE?

Yes. MP4 Converter does not modify or delete the original videos you select from Photos, Files, or another file provider.

The app copies selected videos into its private local storage when needed for conversion and History or Retry functionality.

HOW DOES DELETING FILES WORK?

Deleting a Conversion History entry does not delete its converted output file.

Deleting a converted output does not delete the original source video. The related History entry may remain but show that its output is unavailable.

The Free Up Space tool can remove abandoned temporary or imported copies owned by MP4 Converter. Converted outputs are removed only when you select and confirm them. This tool does not delete original videos from Photos, Files, or another provider.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DELETE THE APP?

Deleting MP4 Converter may remove files and history stored inside the app’s local storage.

Before deleting the app, share or copy any converted files you want to keep. Files previously shared or copied to another app or location must be managed separately.
