As discussed in the Subscriptions Help section, subscription Tiers II, III and IV impose usage limitations in the form of monthly quotas according to the projected Usage Levels. To repeat, the available Usage Levels are:
• Heavy Usage
• Moderate Usage, and
• Light Usage
Each one of these Usage Levels anticipates maximum levels of resource consumption within a billing cycle that lasts a full month. The Usage Levels are priced accordingly to cover the costs of the anticipated usage of network resources. The Bodyguard Application automatically computes the costs associated with usage in real-time. If the Application detects that the actual costs have exceeded the anticipated costs, it prompts the user to either upgrade to a more suitable Usage Level or select another subscription tier altogether. Alternatively, the user may suspend usage of the Application until the next billing cycle, at which time all usage quotas are reset.
In order to help prevent the potential excessive usage scenario described above, the Bodyguard Application performs proactive purging of expired data from the cloud database based on the Usage Level the user has selected and paid for.
In the majority of cases, location and security media data collected through the use of the Application has limited shelf life. Its usefulness degrades over time, and it needs to be cleared out on a regular basis. Under some exceptional circumstances, however, the collected data needs to be retained for a longer than normal period of time. To that end, the Application provides the ability to download media data to local storage to help preserve it until it is fully analyzed and then discarded. There is no provision for downloading location data, but automatic purging of expired location data can be postponed for up to a week.
The usage quotas associated with each Usage Level of Tiers II, III and IV are displayed in the SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS page accessible either via the Main Menu's Subscription Options item, or by tapping any of the right-side items displayed in the Subscription Details section of the MANAGE ACCOUNT page.
The following information is displayed in the SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS page to allow the user to choose the most appropriate Usage Level option for their specific anticipated use-case scenario.
• Number of Security Sessions Limit
This value identifies the expected maximum number of security monitoring sessions per month -- this is not a hard limit; the actual limit is the combination of this value and the following value, which computes the total maximum number of hours permitted for the security monitoring each month under the selected plan.
• Duration of Security Sessions Limit
This value shows the anticipated duration of each security session, expressed in hours -- this is not a hard limit; the actual limit is the combination of this value and the preceding value, which computes the total maximum number of hours permitted for the security monitoring each month under the selected plan.
• Number of Location Points Limit
This value estimates the number of location points uploaded to the cloud in the course of the expected number of security monitoring sessions each month.
• Cloud Storage Location Days Limit
This value indicates how many days each location point is considered to be relevant. Expired location data is removed automatically.
• Cloud Storage Audio Quality
This value shows the automatically selected audio quality of the audio media for the selected Usage Level.
• Cloud Storage Audio Files Limit
This value indicates the maximum number of audio files permitted to collect in the Shared audio file cloud storage area. If this limit is exceeded, the oldest audio files are automatically deleted from the storage location until the limit is satisfied.
• Cloud Storage Audio Bytes Limit
This value indicates the aggregate maximum number of bytes allowed for storage of all audio files in the Shared cloud storage location. If this limit is exceeded, the oldest audio files are automatically deleted from the storage location until the limit is satisfied.
• Cloud Storage Audio Days Limit
This value indicates how many days each audio file, stored in the Shared section of the cloud database, is considered to be relevant. Expired audio files are removed automatically -- oldest ones first.
• Cloud Storage Image Quality
This value shows the automatically selected image quality of the image media for the selected Usage Level.
• Cloud Storage Image Files Limit
This value indicates the maximum number of image files permitted to collect in the Shared image file cloud storage area. If this limit is exceeded, the oldest image files are automatically deleted from the cloud storage location.
• Cloud Storage Image Bytes Limit
This value indicates the aggregate maximum number of bytes allowed for storage of all image files in the Shared cloud storage location. If this limit is exceeded, the oldest image files are automatically deleted from the cloud storage location.
• Cloud Storage Image Days Limit
This value indicates how many days each image file, stored in the Shared section of the cloud database, is considered to be relevant. Expired image files are removed automatically -- oldest ones first.
• Cloud Storage Video Quality
This value shows the automatically selected video quality of the video media for the selected Usage Level.
• Cloud Storage Video Files Limit
This value indicates the maximum number of video files permitted to collect in the Shared video file cloud storage area. If this limit is exceeded, the oldest video files are automatically deleted from the cloud storage location.
• Cloud Storage Video Bytes Limit
This value indicates the aggregate maximum number of bytes allowed for storage of all video files in the Shared cloud storage location. If this limit is exceeded, the oldest video files are automatically deleted from the cloud storage location.
• Cloud Storage Video Days Limit
This value indicates how many days each video file, stored in the Shared section of the cloud database, is considered to be relevant. Expired video files are removed automatically -- oldest ones first.
The Bodyguard Application automatically deletes without warning all location points and security media files that exceed either the number of location points or files, or the aggregate storage size of each file type. However, the Application warns before deleting any expired location or media data and allows for postponement of the data removal process for a period of one week. While the grace period is in effect, the Application periodically warns the user by indicating the number of days remaining in the grace period. Following expiration of this grace period the expired data is removed without further notification.
The grace period gives a user an opportunity to act on the data before they are permanently deleted.
Even the "unlimited" usage tiers -- Tier I and Tier IV, Unlimited Usage Model -- enforce expired location and media data limitations. The maximum number of days location points and shared media data is kept is 90 days.
WARNING: The above procedures apply only if the user regularly logs in and uses the Application. If a user is idle for the maximum duration of the storage limits within their subscription level, plus the applicable grace period, the system automatically deletes all user location and cloud-stored media data by a background process. No warnings are given in such a scenario.
