Review #18: Lost Lands 2024

LOST LANDS REVIEW 

Well shiiiiiit. There is a lot to say for sure this year. Let me try to compress my thoughts very carefully and by sections. 

So let’s start with the heat. FUCK that. Global warming is clearly fucking real. This festival used to be so fucking cold and now it’s not he really needs to consider moving it back a week or two. There’s too many people to be raging like that in the heat. This needs to be a priority in my opinion. 

Attendance was the most it’s ever been this year. In my opinion there was WAY too many people there. You couldn’t get near Wompy when a bigger artist was playing for example subtronics and ganja. Idk I thought it was a little much. I know they could probably fit more people due to the new stage but I think they should have capped it. Last year was already getting bad but this year was crazy. 

The dirt and dust was DISGUSTING. This isn’t really something excision could control. Ohio didn’t have rain since June and of course it rains day 3 lol. It was nice but not at the same time. We didn’t have service so I had no clue it was going to rain. I didn’t go in the venue prepared for it but it felt good for a second then I was cold and soaking wet lol. Could not win with the weather this weekend fr. 

I didn’t see as many medics going around as usual this year. Which I guess is a good thing, but medics is always on it for sure. This festival has alot of newer ravers that go. The crowd is very young, its rare to find people that have been all of the Lost Lands. 

Security was good. The staff was very uninformed. A lot of people didn’t know what they were talking about. 

The sets were really good it’s crazy because I feel like a lot of people played on Main stage really didn’t do as well as people I saw not playing on main stage. Thats just my opinion. 

Everything is on point production wise. The only thing I read this year that people got issues with the sound. A lot of people didn’t like the sound main stage. I did not like the sound at Wompy woods. The crater had the best sound of all of them. I think there was a new sound ordinance this year so a lot of the stages had to go quieter. The crater was SICK and the best addition to the fest. It was an insane stage for sure. The designs were pretty awesome. I like that. They added the wall for main stage so you can see visuals this year. It was like watching a movie. 

VIP is too packed. I shouldn’t have to get there five sets before the main set to get a spot in VIP. I like that they expanded VIP down, but it was still really crowded. They do have wifi and they do have a concierge too. VIP is suppose to have their own merch but i dont remember seeing that.

Merch was an absolute shit show. Everything was gone Friday from all the people i guess coming early Wednesday and Thursday which is ridiculous. The fest starts Friday. They need to do better about merch. The line in the market place was sickening. It opened at 11 am and people were waiting from 8 am.

The village market place was so nice, Incendia was there, they had a dome that was doing projection videos. They had food, water, shops, and they did take away the stage this year which was fine bc it was replaced with the crater. The grove stage was still there. 

The tunnel was sick! i think its so funny everyone was complaining about the stairs but then had to go uphill anyway with the tunnel lololol. 

The bathroom toilet paper in them and we’re always clean. I went in a porta potty or when I went in VIP. The team is definitely on it. They would even tell you to leave your trash out on the road in front of your campsite and they would come pick it up for you!! So cute. 

Food was expensive as usual. They did have a lot of different options, both at the marketplace and inside the venue. VIP doesnt have the best options tho. 

Everyone was worried with the burn ban, i think everyone did pretty well tho and honestly i loved the drones WAAAAAAY more than the fireworks. 

I think they need more water stations. when I saw a lot of the lines were really really long. 

After hours were always awesome. I think the sound was perfect for the amount of people at each stage. I like that they didn’t say who was playing at theater so a lot of people didn’t crowd over there. I mean it was crowded but not as bad as it could’ve been. 

The camping spaces are too small, I shouldn’t have to buy two different camping passes just to fit my group in a spot.

Lyte the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in my life and I’m so glad that they went out of business. They are literally a scam and I am shocked that excision doesn’t do his own ticket exchange. 

All in all this festival is very professional and very well done. I think excisions team is the best one. They don’t shove advertisements down your throat and they don’t let greed consume them, even though they are trying to expand the festival. I think the amount of people is a lot, but I do think that it’s something to be happy for excision and his team. You don’t have room at the stages. The only thing that sucks. Is it really even that bad compared to other festivals.
