OKEE REVIEW
I think that some people really don’t have the right idea when speaking about how a festival was executed.
Are you coming from the time you had personally or are you looking at the logistics?
Just because you were tripping balls on the rail having an amazing time does NOT mean the festival was good. It just means YOU personally had a great time, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Getting mad at people for having a negative vibe toward a festival especially if it’s been taken over and done differently is not it. YOU haven’t experienced that festival before it was what it is now. You can’t be upset at people for seeing a different vibe and having it changed.
I personally wasn’t impressed with okee. I also have a very different perspective with the fest. I’ve been to it before it was taken over, I’ve been to over 30 festivals, and I am literally getting a degree for it.
So yes my perspective was different. Did I still have an incredible time? Absolutely the best. The people I was with could have made anything amazing.
That being said:
-using decorations directly from EDC and FK: sloppy. Brought the vibes of those festivals, which was not it for me. This is a big deal to me because it’s lazy and inexpensive way to “throw something together” you’re telling me you don’t have the money? Please. They throw Electric Forest, how did they not make Okee that vibe?
-Overcrowded as fuck. The Here stage was thrown to the side under that tent which most people couldn’t fit under. Idk if you were at EDC but everyone got under that tent. The bathrooms by that stage were horrible.
-Advertising ANOTHER festival on the bathrooms of the festival. Clearly everything is about taking our money.
-No toilet paper ever, no where to wash your hands but signs saying “wash your hands”. (Lost Lands could never that shit was so clean all the time).
-The stages were okay. Not big enough in my opinion for all those people. Also a little detail I didn’t like was just having a “b” for the Be stage. It’s Be. Capital B. The stages represent the pillars of okee. Spell them out.
-there was NO water at the Here stage or any of the food vendors for that matter.
-no medical tent INSIDE the grove….what? I’m baffled.
-the vendor village is THE WORST idea I’ve ever seen. Cramming all those artists into a small tent is so chaotic and makes me not event want to go in there. It’s a slap in the face to those people in my opinion. Especially at a CAMPING festival.
-the tea lounge. Enough said. If you know you know.
-aquachobee sound was awful and there was SO many people over there.
If you want to sell out your events to capacity, go ahead. Your event goers will not get the experience you are trying to relay. You will have an overcrowded event and it’ll just be another event in the books.
I have a great time and I’ll go again, but please don’t get mad at people for just paying attention to the little things.
I pay attention because I don’t want to throw events like that. That’s just me. I pay attention to all the things that make me go “hell yes that’s awesome” and “absolutely not”.
At the end of the day it’s all subjective. If you’ve been to Sunset music Festival and forbidden Kingdom of course you’re gonna think those are amazing but if you have branched out and been to the bigger Festival such as Electric Forest you’re gonna think differently about the those festivals.
It’s not only about the music when creating a festival, it’s the experience too.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk if you made it down here LOL
