FK REVIEW 2023
FK. SAME SHIT: A LITTLE MORE DECORATIVE LOL
Well here we goooo:
Where do I begin? Let’s start with the elephant in the room:
Why. The. Fuck. Would. You. Throw. A. Dubstep. Festival. In. June. In. Florida.
W H Y
Not only is it SCORCHING hot, the chance of rain is inevitable. Like they know it’s going to rain? Not to mention the structures are cheap LOL it’s not going to withstand the rain if it’s bad? Which it was Day 2. Which then they had to shut the main stage down bc the equipment got wet, bc the stage was wide open. In June. In Florida. Lol.
Okay so let’s just say they knew it was going to rain, who wouldn’t? Why wouldn’t the stage be made equipped to deal with the rain? Idk. I just work here.
*coughs* risk management*
They also didn’t handle any of that situation well. Half of the staff were telling people to leave. The cop I talked to said the other stages were going to open but they were testing it. No service so the app wouldn’t update. Twitter wasn’t loading. Some people legitimately left and had to come back.
Shit shooooooooooooooooow.
We did however get Excision b2b Sudden Death b2b Sullivan King b2b Wooli. That was awesome, but it was INSANE. The crowd was actual unsafe there was WAAAAAAAY too many people there. I left an hour in and it took me so long to get out of that crowd and it was a nightmare. Sardine city. I was curious to how if anyone needed medical attention how tf would they get it? Then a friend told me that right after I left a guy next to them collapsed. I asked how long medics took and she said they were super responsive and got there quick and him out quick but it was still a mission. I’m just glad they were on it cause that shit was genuinely scary.
Okay so now that that’s said and done let’s talk about production:
The Forbidden Stage (Main Stage) was a HUGE upgrade from last year. The LED screens were dope I just wish the speakers were louder at main. I really enjoyed the main stage this year. The lights were great and the length of the stage helped w the amount of people there.
The Mystic Stage (under the pavilion) way too loud. Idk if it was the acoustics but it was crazy loud and that’s coming from me. (I do wear ear plugs all weekend tho) the visuals were cool, I didn’t go in there at night so I didn’t see the lights but they were probably really cool on the ceiling. Also it had fans. There was nothing mystic about it tho lol. The wizard would have been cool closer to this stage or something. Or something w a wizard inside the pavilion.
The Cyberian stage was the same as last year. The sound was good, I like the way the visual screens are but I wish they were connected on the top and the bottom so the visuals don’t have slits in them. Lots of room over there which was cool. The lasers were awesome.
The Village stage needed some help lol. I just feel they could have done a-little more. The sound was decent. The visuals and lights were good but the size was so lame. There was nothing over there that resembled a village lol. Just so lame w the decorations.
The Dragons Den was cool, I enjoyed it for what it was. It was loud, lights were cool, I liked the inflatable dragon as you entered. I died laughing when it was deflated LOL
No sound bleed which was great. Only a tiny bit from village and mystic but not a lot.
The wristbands were that cheap material (if you know you know)
Box office line day 1 was out of control. I didn’t have to wait but someone told me the line took them 45 minutes. That’s crazy. Maybe should have opened it a day before too?
Parking was $30 fucking dollars lol.
Food was expensive asf. $18 for chicken fingers. $14 for a smoothie. lol. $21 for a vodka red Bull. (I didn’t buy anything but I looked to see)
They opened the caps on the gatorade. And pop the top to the water cans. one bartender told me that they didn’t have to take the cops for non-alcoholic beverages, which makes more sense to me but clearly not all the bartenders are on the same page. My dad made a good point that they probably take the tops off so you drink it faster so you buy more. Everything is about money.
Filtered water tasted horrible, but they had multiple water refill stations which is cool.
Restrooms were always clean, I didn’t use a porta potty all weekend but the lines never looked bad. I used the building restroom and it was clean and had toilet paper.
Attendance was expected to be 19,000 the first day and 21,000 the second day. I didn’t feel the festival was crazy crowded until the main stage shut down. Then it was horrible.
They said they were going to have art? Lol I think I saw one live painter. The castle or whatever was super lame lol just a small little structure. All the structures were just mediocre at best. I’m sorry but it’s just the truth.
But I know why they do it. They know they can put all those fire ass artists on a lineup and allllll these people that don’t care about that shit are going to come and have a good time no matter what. It’s a huge money making festival. I bet you they put the lowest budget on that shit just cause they know all they have to do is slap a couple fire headliners and it’s a wrap.
The crowd there is young asf. That’s why I said in my vlog if you haven’t been to a festival before that was probably a solid 6 or 7 out of 10. And if you have it’s like a 3 or 4 at best.
Personally I miss it in Boca. It was so much better down there.
The vendors were in the village again but honestly thank god bc all their stuff was probably better off from the rain. They did have it like okee where it was a little better and more open instead of crowded asf in there. I still like it better as them with their own booths. They could have done something cool like put them near the village stage and idk actually make a village lol.
Sets were good but no one really blew me away. I guess I’m just a snobby bass bitch now lol. But I always feel that way about the sets at this festival.
Cops were present which was cool cause there was a ton of reckless mfs out here lol.
Security were decent. they were on it when the storm happened. But then half of them didn’t have the right info and it was just weird.
The person who checked my ID day one was a fuck. She stared at my ID for I kid you not longer than 30 seconds and I’m just looking at her. She asked me to take my sunglasses off I’m like what is this a fucking Airport so I take them off she looks at me again. Proceeds to look back at my ID for another 30 seconds like she’s studying for a fucking AP exam so she’s like I guess it’s fine I go yeah it’s fine it’s my ID and she goes well your eye color looked a little off….
HUH LOL
MY EYE COLOR LOL
She’s like but I’m not that serious about it so it’s cool
LMFAOOOOO WHAT
WHAT YOU DID WASNT SERIOUS????? LMFAO
I thought that was so funny. Like she wasn’t going to let me in and say that wasn’t me bc of my eye color oh my fucking gosh that would have been even more hilarious.
Anyway, all in all, if you like a dubstep festival in june this is the one for you! I go to vibe out w my city. I loved going alone as much as I missed my friends I got to float around and hang with different people as I ran into them. I got to be on the rail and I met some of the absolute nicest people. The vibes were super cool. Everyone I met was having a good time and making the best out of it for the vibes. I do love that about this festival.
Thanks for reading! My vlog will be up this week!
