Spicer School
1958 - 2022
The new Spicer Elementary School was constructed during the summer of 1958. Students first moved into the classrooms in that fall semester. The building included 4 classrooms, combination stage and classroom, two offices, a teachers' workroom, storage room and a book room. Also included were a kitchen with a pantry, two restrooms, and a combination cafeteria auditorium area with a library nook.

Mr. Hayes Spicer
The school was named after Hayes Spicer who was a beloved principal of the school for 28 years. Mr. Spicer began teaching in 1905 in Grimes County then moving to Waller County in 1909. After teaching in Waller for a year he moved to Racoon Bend and taught in the Stevenson School, which was later renamed Union Center in 1916. Mr. Spicer stayed at the Stevenson School from 1910 to 1921. He became Principal of the Bellville School in October of 1921, where he stayed until his retirement on May 25, 1949.
