  • Texas Law Passed to allow Unincorporated Towns to Incorporate
  • Bellville Public School District Created First Texas Public School for Unincorporated Towns
  • B.I.S.D. rented for Temporary Use the Bellville Masonic Hall until the new Bellville Public School Would Be Ready to Occupy
  • Unity Hall and Surrounding Property Purchased School for Grades 1 -8

1885 - 1914


  • School Library Established
  • Grade 9 Added
  • Grade 10 Added
  • Second School Opened
  • Boys Baseball Organized
  • Grade 11 Added

1915 - 1917

  • Third Story Added to Second School with Auditorium & Electricity
  • Boys & Girls Basketball Teams Organized
  • State Passes Compulsory School Attendance for Ages 8-14
  • Literary Society Established
  • Football Team Organized
  • First Yearbook Published, The Pioneer, First in Austin Co.
  • Track Organized

1918 - 1928

  • First Recorded Tennis Team
  • Second School Burned
  • Vocational Agriculture  and Orchestra Added
  • Bellville Independent School District created under the special Laws of the 36th State Legislature: Effective 2/18/1919 
  • District contained 23.3 square miles
  • New Building Completed for the Bellville Colored School

1929 - 1940

  • Brahma Bull Chosen as District's Mascot
  • Bellville Receives Charter as Member of FFA
  • Girls Volleyball Team Organized
  • New High School Built
  • Bellville Future Homemakers of America Chapter Received its Affiliation

1941 - 1964

  • Grade Twelve Added
  • New Bremen consolidated with West End School District
  • Millheim and Oak Ridge Consolidated with BISD
  • Nelsonville and Buckhorn Consolidated with BISD
  • West End Rural School Built (not part of BISD at this time)
  • First Homecoming Held
  • O'Bryant and Spicer Elementary Schools Dedicated

1965 - 1970

  • Bellville Approved a Desegregation Plan
  • Cochran, Piney & Welcome Districts Annexed
  • Kenney-New Wehdem Rural High  & West End Rural High Schools Consolidated
  • First African American Teacher, Archie Seals, Hired 
  • Purchase of the Naval Reserve Training Facility, 404 E. Main for $1.00 for the District's New  Administration Building
  • First Issue of Hoof Beat Published
  • New High School Completed
