Rehabilitation Robotics

Ibero-American Research Network (Cyted 216RT0504 / 2016-2019): Rehabilitation and assistance of patients with neurological impairments by means of affordable robotic exoskeletons

Description

The general objective of this thematic network is to establish a wide working forum to enable and facilitate the cooperation and exchange of knowledge between different clinical centers, research groups and Ibero-American companies working in the field of rehabilitation and assistance of patients with Neurological damage, and share the interest of developing and applying new technologies based on robotic exoskeletons (REs) to improve the rehabilitation and assistance of this group. Patients with neurological damage are a very disadvantaged group in Latin America, to which a coordinated multidisciplinary effort of clinical centers, research centers, universities and companies has not been dedicated to date. In addition, the geographical scope of the Ibero-American community requires a joint approach to define and contrast knowledge and solutions adapted to the socio-cultural reality of Latin America. The aim is to raise awareness among groups working on these issues by encouraging collaboration between them. For this international collaboration, the framework of the CYTED Program is considered the most appropriate.
