Building robot ONO

The ONO Platform for social robotics (https://www.opsoro.be/) is developed in the University of Ghent (Belgium) and one of its contributors is the Colombian School of Engineering. This workshop will give insights of the process followed to create a social robot and it is aimed to show the design and construction of ONO. During the workshop will be given the instructions required to install OnoSW, which is the software framework for OPSORO. You will learn to simulate the platform and develop a face detection program.

PLACE

Classroom G-180

DATE

June 2nd

HOUR

2:00 pm

PREVIOUS WORK AND REQUIREMENTS

This workshop does not require prior knowledge, however basic technical skills on Ubuntu can be useful. You will need a computer working with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Recommended) or a virtual machine running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

SCHEDULE

2:00 pm - INTRODUCTION TO “Human-Robot Interaction Strategies for Rehabilitation based on Socially Assistive Robotics”

Speakers:

          • Prof. Dr. Carlos A. Cifuentes (Escuela)

2:15 pm - CURRENT STATE OF CHILDREN'S REHABILITATION WITH COGNITIVE DIVERSITY IN COLOMBIA

Speakers:

          • Ps. Jeison Velasquez Leon - Gerente Cientifico Clinica de Rehabilitacion Integral Howard Gardner

3:00 pm - INSTALLATION AND SIMULATION OF ONO PLATFORM

In this section you will learn to simulate ONO following the instructions given by the tutors. After the basic setups and test scenarios, you will be challenged to program your own interactions with the robot.

Speakers:

          • Karen V. Murillo
          • Santiago G. Bermudez

4:00 pm - INTEGRATION OF FACE DETECTION MODULE IN SOCIAL ROBOTICS

With a regular camera we can actually estimate pretty accurately and in real-time the 3D head pose of humans. The third part of the workshop is the installation of the packages needed to run a face recognition program and make the attention system for our social robot real.

Speakers:

          • Karen V. Murillo
          • Santiago G. Bermudez
