FIELD TRIP TO POULTRY FARM


As part of the III-year Zoology Practical syllabus, we took III-year zoology students Mani Poultry Farm, Kurnool on 12th December, 2021.  

The Director of the Poultry farm, Shashidhar garu and his technical team explained the common breeds of chicken, described their reproductive system and the requirements to hatch chicken eggs. They also explained common bacterial and viral diseases of poultry farm and their treatment methods. Students interacted with technical team and clarified their doubts. This visit was very useful and informative for students.


§  The Department of Zoology Organized one day National Seminar on “The Disturbing Sleep of a Giant Causes Catastrophe: A Curious Case of Kidney Diseaseon 15th June 2022.

§  The Chief Guest & Keynote Speaker was Dr. Anil Kumar Pasupaleti, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad.

§   He explained the significance of podocytes in ultrafiltration. He also spoke about the structure and functions of podocytes and their malfunctioning in kidney diseases.

§  All the final year B.Sc., students from different branches of Life Sciences were attended the seminar.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between St. Joseph’s Degree College and Silver Jubilee Degree College, Kurnool.


On 15thJune 2022, a significant milestone was achieved with the formalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between St. Joseph’s Degree College and Silver Jubilee Degree College, Kurnool. This MoU signifies a commitment to collaboration and mutual support between the two institutions for the betterment of academic and extracurricular pursuits.

Objective of the MoU:

The primary objectives of the MoU are as follows:

   To foster academic collaboration through joint academic initiatives, faculty exchange programs, and sharing of educational resources to enhance the learning experience for students.

   Facilitate opportunities for students from both institutions to engage in exchange programs, promoting cultural exchange and exposure to diverse educational environments.

   Organize joint workshops, seminars, and conferences to promote knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary discussions among students and faculty members.

Capacity building program in Biology for School Teachers

Capacity building program was organised by the Department of Biochemistry, St.Joseph’s Degree College, Kurnool for the Biology teachers of St.Joseph’s Educational institutions on 18th June 2022.

The aim of the programme is to equip biology teachers in content and pedagogical competence in advance areas of biology like Biotechnology and Molecular genetics.

·      St. Joseph's Degree College celebrated World Health Day with an insightful invited talk on "Health and Nutrition" organized by the NSS wing. Dr. C. S. Sreenivasa Rao, a distinguished resource person, shared valuable insights into the crucial aspects of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Speaker Profile:

·      Dr. C. S. Sreenivasa Rao, an expert in the field of Biochemistry, brought a wealth of knowledge to the event. With Doctoral dgree, Dr. Rao has been actively involved in promoting health awareness and contributing to research in the domain.
