Materials

-A glass jar with a lid (Mason jars are a great option)

-1/3 cup of hot water (hot water from the faucet works)

-Can of hairspray

-Ice cubes

Instructions

-Start by asking parents help getting hot water from the faucet

-Using 1/3 cup of hot water, pour it into the jar and swirl the water around

-Put the lid on upside down and place cubes of ice on top for 1 minute

-Next take the lid off and spray a little bit of hairspray into the jar and put the lid back on

-Wait for a few minutes and the clouds should start appearing

-Once the clouds appear, you can open the lid and watch the clouds come out of the jar

-A lemon

-Food coloring (optional)

-Baking soda

-Dish soap

-Fork

-With parent’s permission, cut a lemon in half

-Poke the lemon so the lemon juice comes to the top

-Next, add a few drops of food coloring

-Cover the top of the lemon dish soap, then add 2 tablespoons of baking soda on top

-Watch as the lemon starts to fizzle! The more lemon juice there is the more fizzle there will be

Materials

• Gummy Bears

• Vinegar

• Baking soda

• Salt

• Water

• Cups

Instructions

• Have four cups, each cup with different liquids. Make sure you label each cup!

Cup 1: 2 cups of water

Cup 2: 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water

Cup 3: 1/2 cup of salt and 2 cups of water

Cup 4: 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 2 cups of water

-After filling up the cups with the ingredients add a gummy bear in each cup. Make a guess on which gummy bear will get bigger

-Let the gummy bears sit in the cups for at least 5 hours or if you really want to see a big change in gummy bear size, let the gummy bears sit in the cups for 24 hours

-After letting the gummy bears sit, take them out and compare them to gummy bears not in the cups

-Using the before and after sheet, place the gummy bears next to one another for easy comparisons. Was your guess correct or wrong?
