Developing a scope and sequence that intentionally incorporates Work-Based Learning (WBL) allowed me to demonstrate competency in ACTE Standard 11: Business and Community Partnerships. In this plan, I identified key points throughout the course where students could connect classroom instruction to real-world experiences, creating a more meaningful and career-focused learning pathway.
This scope and sequence integrates WBL opportunities such as guest speakers, industry tours, job shadowing, and supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs). These experiences are strategically placed within units to reinforce the skills and concepts students are learning, allowing them to see direct connections between coursework and agricultural careers. By aligning these opportunities with instruction, students are better prepared to engage with industry professionals and apply their knowledge in authentic settings.
Additionally, this work reflects my understanding of the importance of building relationships with local businesses and community partners. By incorporating WBL into the curriculum, I am creating opportunities for collaboration that benefit both students and industry partners, while also strengthening the overall agricultural education program.
