Putting it simply, people learn differently. Creating different mindsets as an educator allows for one to teach differently, which then leads to student learning and engagement. Changing gears and looking at things differently allows understanding and the ability to see professional growth. In Henriksen, Mehta, & Rosenberg's (2019) reading, "Supporting a Creatively Focused Technology Mindset," the idea of redefining a simple word like creativity can open doors to a multitude of different understandings in education. Thinking just about creativity and how it leads to engagement in learners correlates with how people learn and succeed within education. Specifically focusing on the definition of creativity that is stated in the article, allows for creating and allowing learning towards a different kind of definition of creativity. "These aspects of a creative mindset, therefore, include flexibility, open-mindedness, willingness to try new things, and intellectual play or risk-taking" (Henriksen, Mehta, & Rosenber, 2019). As they suggest in the article it is needed for education to shift and "focus on a teaching mindset that corresponds with creative thinking, rather than chasing an outcome-target of novelty and effectiveness" (Henriksen, Mehta, & Rosenber, 2019). With a focus on exploring, creating, and sharing as well, the choices and understanding while being open-minded, can push and create the nature of creative engagement.
