I am submitting my application for this teaching position. I feel that my enthusiasm for the outlined goals will contribute positively to your team.

As a student at Michigan State University, I majored in Elementary Education and specialized in language arts. During that time, I volunteered at multiple school sites and gained valuable experience in multiple grades. On receiving my certification, I began teaching 2nd grade at Jurupa Valley Unified Schools, where I learned how to manage a classroom, prepare, and implement effective lessons, and identify multiple teaching strategies. These are skills that have directly contributed to my teaching strategies in my current position at Boyce Elementary. I would continue to use and adapt these for my future students.

The experiences I have gained in the classroom this year and in prior years would help me excel in this position. My current teaching experience with 5th graders has allowed me to work with and teach older independent learners. While working in California, I earned a Teaching English as a Second Language endorsement to better provide for my diverse classroom. I have further enhanced my skills in student engagement and creating a positive environment while working with students in different settings.

I’m striving to improve my expertise in the areas of classroom management, tracking student progress, and communicating with parents. I have a very strong work ethic and pride myself on my reliability, strong attention to detail, communication, and taking initiative. 

I have been afforded many opportunities to enhance my career and expand my teaching skills, I would continue to make every effort to apply my experience as a professional educator at your school to make a positive impact on students’ lives.
