A note on the locations
Most of the locations and institutions that feature in this book are real. Their inhabitants and employees, however, are purely fictional. In particular:
the excellent Royal Liverpool Hospital does not have a trauma surgeon by the name of Elvira Yorke, and she is not based on any actual surgeon employed there or anywhere else;
there is no St Wilfrid’s Catholic Church, and neither this church nor the church in Toxteth attended by the Fazakerley family is based on any existing church in Liverpool or anywhere else;
none of the police officers mentioned in this story are based on real members of Merseyside Police or of any other police service.
Interested readers are encouraged to take a trip on the Mersey Ferry and to visit the other attractions mentioned in the book. Information and maps can be found on the Visit Liverpool website: http://www.visitliverpool.com.
