Collaborative Events

In addition to bi-weekly meetings, Art Club has collaborative special events on and off campus. In the years that I was the club’s president, such events have included going on statue tours of Milwaukee in conjunction with the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM), animation and figure drawing workshops with Marquette’s Filmmakers Association, and assisting artists in painting murals such as Marquette University's mural in the central mall, designed by Mauricio Ramirez. This article above describes the story behind the mural in great detail. I personally worked with Marquette faculty to create a schedule where students could sign up to help Mauricio paint the mural itself. I was also lucky enough to staff and supervise some of the painting process, which involved working directly with Mauricio to paint portions of the mural. Because of my involvement in the process, I'm especially fond of the greens, blues, and oranges in the bottom right corner of the mural, as I helped paint that section.
