Belmar Junior Lifeguards learn about the history of junior lifeguarding, foundational lifesaving skills, tournament events, strong ocean and beach safety skills, and more.

We compete in five local tournaments and often have members attend regionals and nationals.

1. Describe the purpose of Junior Lifeguarding and how it could impact the participant’s life in the future.

2. Identify beach safety considerations and potential safety risks.

3. Describe beach safety education and the public warning systems used in Belmar.

4. Demonstrate lifeguard competition disciplines and how they replicate components of an actual rescue situation.

5. Describe the components of a rescue situation (recognize and respond, contact and control, signal and save).
