Do we have to purchase a uniform?
Yes, uniforms are REQUIRED for all Junior Lifeguards. They must have at least a bathing suit (boardshorts or one piece/two piece suit), all other pieces (rashguards etc) are optional.
They are available for purchase at Beckman's on the Beach in Belmar, NJ.
Can my kids participate in Belmar Recreation Camp AND Junior Lifeguards?
Yes! We have many Junior Lifeguards who participate in the Belmar Recreation Camp. Seperate registration is required for BOTH programs. Once registration is completed for both programs, we will take care of the rest!
Are tournaments required?
No, tournaments are not required. They are highly encouraged. Each tournament costs $30.
Do you need parent volunteers?
Parent volunteers will be needed for our home Belmar Tournment, more info to follow!
Do you have to be a Belmar resident?
No, Belmar Junior Lifeguards is open for boys and girls aged 6-16. There is a discount for Belmar, Lake Como, and St. Rose students.
What happens if you need to miss a day of junior lifeguards?
No stress! Our head coaches take attendence daily.
Can I drop my kids off early for practice?
No, please do not drop your kids off until 10am and pick up at 12noon.
My children are afraid of the ocean, is this a good program?
No, this program involves going in and out of the ocean daily. Junior Lifeguards must be comfortable with the ocean.
My son or daughter loved Jr. Guards and now wants to coach?
Coaches must be 17 years old.
How do I try out to become a Belmar Lifeguard?
If you have completed Junior Lifeguards and are at least 17 years old, you may apply to become a lifeguard.
