One of the first things we implement to prevent problem behaviors is priming. Priming, or preparing, is when we introduce things to our children in order to prepare them for any changes in schedule, new activities, or any other event which may result in or often results in problem behaviors occurring. Priming is extremely effective with little ones who have difficulty with transitions or prefer being in control. Visuals, timers, watching videos, role-playing and schedules are all ways to use priming.
