Respundus: It locks the browser, so students can only access the exam on Blackboard. They can not open any other website , application or document.
The mock exam is MANDATORY to verify that all students have downloaded the latest version of Respondus and to identify any issues they may have before the real exam
1.1 Create a Mock exam with a couple of questions
e.g. one Multiple choice question (Wich is the capital of? .. 4 answers
one Essay question : write your name....
R/ most rrecent update is instalede in my computer and I am ready /alloud to
(only for mock) Number of attempts: unlimited students may need to take the mock again in case they use a different computer or they need to upgrade Respondus.
1.2 Activate RESPONDUS in the mock exam (same process as in step 2).
1.3. Make the exam available to students as soon as possible and ask your students to take the mock exam.
once the students access to the exam they will be required to download Respondus.
1.4 Access the GRADEBOOK and check.....
If the students took the exam, means they were able to download Respondus correctly.
If they didn't take the exam, contact them, to identify possible technical difficulties.
In parallel, you can create the "real exam" in Blackboard and activate RESPONDUS for that exam as well.
Be sure to set the correct Release conditions Date/time
Bare in mind that with respundus students will not be able to attach files.
1. First you have to create the test guide
2. Click "Test Settings"
3. Select "Respondus"
4. Press the RED tab "Continue for Configuration"
5. Select the exam you want to proctor,
6. Press the GREEN arrow and
7. Select "Settings"
8. Select Requires Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam.
9. Select Advanced Settings
10 . Check "Require LockDown Browser to view feedback and results"
"Allow students to take this exam with iPad"
11. SAVE + CLOSE
The exam will show the PROTORED badge
It is recommended to create a copy of the exam without Respondus and keep it "Hidden from students" to use it just in case a specific student is not able to install Respondus correctly.
Using the release conditions, you could make the exam available just to this specific student, so he/she can take this other exam at the same time as his/her peers.
TO CREATE A COPY OF THE EXAM
Select the plus sign that divides the Course Content area, and select Copy Content.
Settings: keep the exam "Hidden from students".
Remove Respondus option
In case you need to make the copy of the exam (without Respondus) available to one specific student:
Release conditions
Select members
Specific members or groups
search the name of the student

As a proctoring tool, the use of Smowl is more advisable
In case you copy an exam with Respondus to a different course or section, you should ENABLE again Respondus settings for the copied exam
