This Privacy Policy explains how Basic and Advanced Grammar (the App) handles information when you use its grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, quiz, exam-practice, advertising, and subscription features.
PRIVACY AT A GLANCE
• You can use the App without creating an account.
• Learning progress, review schedules, and the incorrect-answer notebook are stored locally on your device.
• The developer does not operate a cloud account or learning-progress server for the App.
• Pronunciation practice uses the microphone and Apple Speech Recognition only after the required permissions are granted. Apple may process speech on the device or through Apple-operated systems.
• Apple text-to-speech can read words and examples aloud.
• Free users may receive Google Limited Ads with non-personalized treatment. After Google’s consent flow and before the advertising SDK starts, the App requests Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission. You can decline and continue using the App. Google and its advertising partners may process data to deliver, secure, and measure ads; device IDs may be used for tracking when permitted, as explained below.
• The App resolves Premium entitlement before starting Google’s consent update or Mobile Ads initialization. Premium users do not see ads, and the App does not intentionally make new ad requests while a valid Premium entitlement is active.
• Apple processes monthly and yearly Premium subscriptions through StoreKit. The developer does not receive your full payment-card details.
INFORMATION HANDLED BY THE APP
LOCAL LEARNING DATA
The App stores learning information locally so that it can personalize study and review. This can include:
• selected CEFR level and exam goal;
• lesson, vocabulary, reading, and quiz activity;
• correct and incorrect answers;
• entries in the incorrect-answer notebook;
• mastery estimates, weak-area indicators, review dates, and streaks; and
• local Premium-entitlement status needed to present the correct access level.
This learning data is kept in the App’s storage on your device. It is not sent to a developer-controlled account, analytics service, or learning server. The developer generally cannot identify, access, retrieve, or restore this data.
Local data remains until it is removed through an available reset control, the App is deleted, the device is erased, or iOS removes the App’s data. If you use Apple device backups, iOS may include and restore App data according to your Apple backup settings and Apple’s policies.
PRONUNCIATION, MICROPHONE, AND SPEECH RECOGNITION
When you start a speaking activity, the App may request microphone and speech-recognition permission. Live audio is provided to Apple’s Speech framework so that speech can be converted to text and compared with the practice prompt. The recognition result or practice outcome may be used to update local learning progress.
The App does not save voice recordings or send them to a developer-controlled server. Apple Speech Recognition is not guaranteed to operate entirely offline. Depending on the device, selected language, iOS capabilities, settings, network availability, and Apple’s platform behavior, Apple may process audio and related speech data on the device or on Apple-operated servers. Apple handles that information under its own privacy terms and system settings.
You can deny or later revoke microphone or speech-recognition access in iOS Settings. Other learning content remains available, but pronunciation recording and spoken-answer comparison cannot work without the required permissions.
TEXT-TO-SPEECH
The App uses Apple’s text-to-speech capabilities to pronounce words, examples, and learning prompts. The requested text is handled through the operating system. The App does not upload vocabulary recordings to a developer-controlled server. Voice availability, downloaded voices, and operating-system processing are controlled by Apple and your device settings.
ADVERTISING FOR FREE USERS
The App applies Google Mobile Ads privacy safeguards at launch, but starts the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent update and Mobile Ads initialization only after resolving Premium entitlement and only when no valid Premium entitlement is active. Before the advertising SDK initializes, the App disables Google’s publisher first-party identifier, disables ad personalization for the session, disables Google Mobile Ads SDK crash reporting, and requests Google Limited Ads by recording that local identifier storage has not been consented to. Ad requests are also limited to a maximum ad-content rating of G and explicitly request non-personalized treatment. Because the App serves a general audience, it does not make a blanket claim that every user is a child or under the age of consent. After Google’s consent flow and before starting Mobile Ads, the App requests Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission. If you decline, Apple does not make the advertising identifier (IDFA) available to the App; limited, non-personalized ads may still appear. The App remains usable if you decline or an ad cannot be requested. If you allow tracking, Google or participating advertising partners may use device IDs for advertising measurement or tracking across other companies’ apps and websites. The App Store privacy label therefore discloses Device ID as data used to track you. The App does not use local learning data or voice recordings for advertising. Limited Ads reduce identifier-based advertising features, but they do not mean that an ad request contains no data.
Google, its service providers, and advertising demand partners made available through Google, including participating Authorized Buyers, may process limited information needed to request, deliver, secure, measure, and diagnose ads. Programmatic Limited Ads are enabled. Google states that this mode may use local storage solely for invalid-traffic detection, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention. Depending on the device, region, consent status, advertising request, participating demand partner, and Google’s current SDK behavior, processing may include:
• Coarse Location: an approximate location estimated from the IP address;
• Device ID: an advertising, device-, app-, or developer-bounded identifier where permitted by Apple’s tracking permission, the Limited Ads configuration, and other applicable settings;
• Advertising Data: ad requests, advertisements shown, and impressions;
• Product Interaction: app launches, taps, ad interactions, and video views;
• Performance Data and Other Diagnostic Data: launch, responsiveness, network, delivery, fraud-prevention, and technical diagnostic information; and
• Crash Data: the Google Mobile Ads privacy manifest declares crash-data collection capability, although app-owned code disables Google Mobile Ads SDK crash reporting before initialization.
Where required, Google UMP may present a consent or privacy-choice flow before advertising requests are made. The restricted ad configuration remains in place regardless of whether a region permits broader advertising choices.
When a valid Premium entitlement is active, the App hides ads and does not intentionally make new Google ad requests. Information previously processed by Google remains subject to Google’s retention practices and policies. More information is available in Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PURCHASE INFORMATION
The App offers monthly and yearly auto-renewable Premium subscriptions through Apple StoreKit. Apple processes the purchase and payment information. The App receives transaction and entitlement information needed to unlock or restore Premium, such as the product identifier, purchase state, and expiration status. The App may store current entitlement status locally.
The developer does not receive your full payment-card number. Apple retains purchase and subscription records under its own terms, legal obligations, and privacy practices. You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple Account settings and use Restore Purchases in the App for eligible purchases.
The App does not include Google Analytics for Firebase or an in-app purchase event logger, and its AdMob app-analytics linkage is disabled. App-owned code does not send StoreKit transaction events to Google. This information does not include your full payment-card details.
SUPPORT AND PRIVACY COMMUNICATIONS
If you contact the developer, the developer receives the information you choose to provide. This may include your email address, device and iOS details, App version, screenshots, and a description of the issue. Do not send passwords, full payment-card details, or voice recordings.
Support and privacy communications are used only to respond to and resolve the request, maintain necessary records, comply with legal obligations, protect the App and its users, and investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents. They are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and are then deleted or anonymized unless a longer period is required for a legal or security reason.
HOW INFORMATION IS USED
Information handled through the App is used to:
• provide lessons, quizzes, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, and exam practice;
• calculate progress, weak areas, mastery, and review suggestions locally;
• maintain the local incorrect-answer notebook;
• play system-generated pronunciation audio;
• recognize speech when the user requests that feature;
• verify, restore, and display Premium access;
• request, display, secure, and measure restricted ads for free users;
• diagnose technical failures, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests; and
• comply with legal, security, App Store, and platform obligations.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, processing may rely on providing the service you request, your permission or consent, compliance with legal obligations, and the developer’s legitimate interests in support, security, fraud prevention, and maintaining the App. You can withdraw a permission or consent through the relevant device or in-App control where available. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before it was withdrawn.
The developer does not sell local learning progress, the incorrect-answer notebook, support messages, or voice recordings. The App does not use these items for personalized advertising.
SERVICE PROVIDERS AND DISCLOSURE
The App relies on the following providers:
• Apple: App distribution, StoreKit subscriptions, payment and entitlement processing, Speech Recognition, text-to-speech, device backups where enabled by the user, and operating-system services. See Apple’s Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).
• Google and advertising demand partners made available through Google: consent management, restricted Mobile Ads delivery, measurement, security, diagnostics, and fraud prevention for free users. See Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
The developer may also disclose information included in a support or privacy request when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to a valid legal process, protect rights and safety, investigate misuse, or obtain professional assistance subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations.
Apple and Google may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Their own terms, transfer safeguards, retention practices, and legal obligations apply to the information they process.
DATA RETENTION
• Local learning data: remains on the device until removed through an available reset control, deletion of the App, erasure of the device, or iOS data management. Apple backups may retain a copy according to the user’s settings and Apple’s policies.
• Voice recordings: are not stored by the App or on a developer-controlled server. Apple controls any retention associated with its speech service.
• Purchase information: is retained by Apple according to Apple’s policies and legal obligations. Local entitlement information remains until the App data is removed or refreshed.
• Advertising information: is retained by Google and any participating demand partners according to their policies and the applicable restricted-ad configuration.
• Support and privacy communications: are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the matter and meet legal or security needs, then deleted or anonymized unless longer retention is required.
YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, objection to, or a copy of personal information handled by the developer. You may also have the right to withdraw consent and complain to your local data-protection authority.
Because the App has no developer-operated account and learning progress is local, the developer generally cannot connect that data to you or retrieve it. You can control information and features by:
• using an available local reset control or deleting the App;
• changing microphone and speech-recognition permissions in iOS Settings;
• using any Google consent or privacy-choice controls presented in the App;
• adjusting Apple privacy, backup, and advertising settings;
• managing or cancelling subscriptions in your Apple Account settings; and
• contacting thebasicandadvanced@gmail.com about information contained in support or privacy communications.
The developer may need to verify a request before acting on it and may retain information where required by law or necessary for security, fraud prevention, or legal claims.
CHILDREN
The App is an educational product that can be used without an account or profile. It does not knowingly ask children to submit names, dates of birth, contact lists, precise location, or voice recordings to the developer. Learning progress and the incorrect-answer notebook remain local to the device.
For all free users, Google ad requests use Limited Ads with non-personalized treatment and a maximum content rating of G. The App's general-audience age treatment is left unspecified rather than making an inaccurate blanket child or under-age claim. Premium users do not receive ads while their entitlement is active.
If a child contacts support, a parent or guardian may ask the developer to delete the child’s support communication by emailing thebasicandadvanced@gmail.com, subject to any information that must be retained for legal or security reasons.
SECURITY
The App limits developer-controlled data handling and keeps learning progress in the iOS application sandbox. Apple and Google apply their own security measures to their services. No electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure. Keep iOS updated and protect access to your device and Apple Account.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
This policy may be updated when the App’s features, service providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The updated policy will show a new effective or last-updated date. Material changes will be communicated through the App, App Store release notes, or the public policy page where appropriate.
