This is the mix of ingredients that makes up the Master Mix and can be used with other recipes to make quick meals.
Makes 13 cups
9 cups sifted all-purpose flour
⅓ cup baking powder
1 tbsp salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
4 tbsp sugar
1 cup nonfat dry milk
2 cups shortening
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar, sugar, and dry milk three times. (add spices as desired)
Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or two knives until the mixture looks like course corn meal.
Store in covered containers at room temperature.
