BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DO FOR ATTENTION
When I was around 10 or 11 years old my parents had a great home. Looking back at it now I thought it was a mansion, approximately 1200 sq feet. As you came in the front door there was a staircase to the right which led to a large bedroom and bathroom. I got to live up there for a short time. Well for what ever trouble I had got into I was up there crying my eyes out and thinking how I could get back at my parents for punishing me--BIG DEAL - THEY SENT ME TO MY ROOM! I decided if I sat in the window and fell out I could either break a bone or something and then they would feel bad and especially guilty.
Well I sat in that window for a while but didn’t fall because I didn’t want to lay on the walk and not have anyone find me - alas- they called me for dinner and I didn’t answer them (that will teach them to be so mean to me) then I heard them tell my brother Al to go get me. As he rushed up the stairs and opened the door I gradually tried to fall at which he grabbed me (I really look back and think that I probably just pretended to fall.) Anyway he ran and grabbed me and put me on the floor and ran downstairs and told my Mom and Dad. At that time I heard my Dad yell my name and told me come to dinner. I walked to the table and sat down waiting to hear how much they loved me and were so glad that nothing had happened but instead no one talked to me at all. Everyone ate in silence and when they were all through they got up from the table and went into the living room and left me to clean the table and wash the dishes. When I was done with my chores I sneaked off to my room and never tried that trick again.
