I’m proud to share that I voted in favour of two important initiatives that are shaping a brighter future for our community:
1. Child Care Space Incentive Program – Approved by Cold Lake City Council in June 2025, this program offers $1,500 for each new provincially-licensed childcare space (capped at $30,000 per project), aiming to create up to 100 new spaces locally funded through municipal investment to meet our community’s urgent needs . With an initial $90,000 allocated in 2025, we expect to add up to 60 much-needed spots this year alone .
2. 24-Hour Child Care Policy Update – In January 2025, Cold Lake’s Council passed amendments to Land Use Bylaw No. 766-LU-23, removing the restriction that had prevented childcare facilities from operating overnight. This milestone opens the door for round-the-clock childcare services critically important for families working non-standard or shift hours .
These decisions ensure that families from essential workers to those on irregular schedules have the support they need to thrive. By improving childcare accessibility and flexibility, we’re strengthening our local economy, supporting parents in the workforce, and building a more inclusive and resilient Cold Lake.
Please share this important information and on October 20th, Re-elect RYAN BAILEY for Cold Lake Council.
