Ryan was born and raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He attended high school in Calgary, Alberta, then Medicine Hat College in the Pre-Education degree program. He completed his Education and Fine Arts Degrees in Drama at the University of Lethbridge. Ryan moved to Cold Lake in 2002, and has been an active member of the community ever since. From theatre to officiating sports, Ryan loves the City of Cold Lake. Ryan is married and has two children, and two dogs! Ryan is currently a teacher in the City of Cold Lake.

Community Involvement

• Ryan has umpired local baseball including several provincial championships.

• Ryan currently officiates football for the Cold Lake Fighter Jets, Cold Lake High School Royals, Cold Lake Ravens and Cold Lake Rams.

• Ryan currently announces at the Cold Lake Junior B Ice games.

• In the past, Ryan has volunteered as MC for Pirouette School of Dance year-end recitals. Also, for the past 2 years, Ryan has fundraised for this non-profit organization by doing his "DANCE RYAN DANCE" fundraiser. This has helped raise close to $2000!

• Along with his wife, Ryan has directed and produced plays for the MFRC Summer Theatre Camp.

• Ryan has co-directed several school musicals with his wife. These include High School Musical, Annie, The Music Man, Once Upon a Mattress, Fiddler on the Roof and Into the Woods.

• Participated yearly in Holy Cross' Annual Quiz Night Fundraiser.

• Performed in numerous productions at The Grande Parlour. 

• In conjunction with Images Studios, Ryan has dressed as Santa Claus and brought smiles and tears of joy to children and their families.

• Ryan has been a judge for the city-wide Lemonade Day which in conjunction with Community Futures Lakeland, helps young people learn the value of entrepreneurship.

• Ryan was a member of the FCSS board. Helping make decisions for the betterment of ALL citizens of Cold Lake.

• Ryan is currently a member of the Cold Lake Public Library Board.

• Ryan is currently the chairman of the Cold Lake Regional Utilities Commission.
