For this project, we learned how databases work, including how they retrieve, sort, and analyze data. We chose a database from the Library of Congress and assessed its structure and information.
From looking at the African American Sheet Music database, I learned that databases are more than just storage. It is about how the information is organized and how easy it is to search and understand. I also learned about different types of database models, like relational databases, and how they help connect things like composers, dates, and themes. Overall, it showed me that databases are not neutral, but can they play a big role in how information and in this case history itself is shared and understood.
