I believe that a child will not be able to learn at their full capacity if they do not feel physically and emotionally safe and supported in their classroom. I believe that all students should be treated equitably in a classroom, regardless of their physical or academic abilities. This means that students are met where they are and brought to the same playing field based on what their needs are, and inclusivity is a large part of that.
Additionally, students need to be in a physically and emotionally safe space to learn. It is scientifically proven that our brains cannot reach a place of willingness to learn if we are in a current state of fight or flight. Children should feel safe in a classroom and supported by their teacher and peers.
