QR Codes display a link as a scannable code. The code is designed to be read by a smartphone. A QR code makes it easy for caregivers to access classroom materials and extra content at home. A QR code can help everyone stay on the same page in the classroom, helping prevent students from getting distracted while searching online. A QR code is helpful because, unlike a link, anyone can scan it for easy access, whether it's displayed on the teacher's device, a handout, or a poster on the wall. I created a poster using Canva to display a set of QR codes that link to information about animal classifications. To create a QR code using Canva, select the QR code app and paste the link you want to use in the bar. Click "generate" and it's done.
Using QR codes in the classroom relates to Domain 1 of the Danielson Framework, Planning and Preparation. QR codes assist the teacher in keeping information and lesson materials organized and ready for student use. They also illustrate domain 2, Learning Environments. Graphic organizers featuring QR codes work to build the digital learning environment that forms the context for student work in some projects.
