I created an infographic using Canva to organize my takeaways from each teacher's unique perspectives and ideas. These takeaways are concepts and methods that I can use to implement technology with a purpose in my future classroom. The purpose is to make learning accessible, engaging, and impactful to students. Incorporating ideas and guidance from experienced educators, and learning from what works for others, is an aspect of Domain 4 of the Danielson Framework: Principled Teaching. Component 4D, Contributing to School Community and Culture, refers to exactly the sort of collaborative sharing between teachers that the article I read exemplifies.
The ISTE Standard for Educators Facilitator is related to the article. The teachers who contributed to the article demonstrated the use of technology to facilitate learning and create student- motivated learning experiences. Students were given a wider variety of tools and media to express their ideas, and an authentic audience to increase the value of the work they did. Expanding the scope of learning beyond the classroom to real world situations and issues challenges educators to model flexibility and creativity for students. Additionally, a facilitating teacher will both model and expect respectful management of technology in the classroom, encouraging learners to view technology as a powerful tool to enhance their own learning, taking ownership of their education. The ISTE Standard for Students Creative Communicator. The article highlighted the suitability of technology for giving students their choice of platforms or tools to customize their messages. Once again, creating the opportunity to share with an authentic audience adds value to students' hard work, whether that audience is made up of parents, other classes, the local community, or even a global project.
I used the design site Canva to create this poster illustrating the doubles addition facts 1+1=2 through 10+10=20. I illustrated each number sentence using color coded objects. Using Canva was helpful because Canva offers a wide variety of elements and representations of objects which can be edited to suit a project's needs. In addition to posters, Canva curates templates for many other design projects, from videos and social media posts to charts and infographics.
The project fits in the Danielson Framework under Domain 1, Planning and Preparation, as a part of the component 1e: Planning Coherent Instruction. The teacher has already set instructional outcomes, identifying what students need to learn. Planning coherent instruction involves pulling together various elements in order to achieve the instructional outcomes. An illustration or chart such as this one is an element that can contribute to reinforcing the concepts from a lesson. An illustration that serves as a poster also contributes to the tone of the classroom and relates to component 2e: Organizing Spaces for Learning.
