Classroom Screen is a platform that makes it easy to build a display to project in front of the class. It displays a variety of features. I chose 5 widgets that would help with keeping both teacher and students on task, focused, and aware. The timer is intended to let students see how much time is left for an activity. I chose the calendar because every time I am in a class, someone asks what day of the month it is before they start taking notes or taking a quiz. I included the die because introducing an element of randomness or chance makes decision making faster for small decisions. Which group should go first? with 6 groups, rolling the die makes it easy! The widget in the middle of the screen indicates the level of talking that is acceptable, with varying levels from silence to full collaboration. That way, students don't have to wonder whether they are allowed to talk. It is plainly displayed! I included the checklist to give both teacher and students a sense of progress and direction. Instead of watching the clock, they can tell class will be over soon when almost all the goals have been accomplished! Much healthier and more fun, and students will not feel disoriented.
Using Classroom Screen can be a way to implement Domain 2 of the Danielson Framework in the classroom. The Classroom Screen is a part of the learning environment, carefully prepared to guide students through the routine and tasks of the day. It adds ambiance and information, contributing to the classroom's design to foster a culture of learning.
