ATJOでは、COFLT学会のある10月と3月および新年1月をのぞいた月に、「勉強会」として集まる機会を提供しています。
For members who like to meet & share updates and Japanese-teaching ideas, ATJO also offers a Benkyōkai ("study group") gathering opportunity 6 times per school year in any month except October and March (when there are COFLT conferences), and January.
(Benkyoukai dates are posted on the お知らせ calendar. They have recently been on a Friday evening.)

お休み中の勉強会に代わって、気軽に情報交換できるカジュアルな会を不定期に設けています。ATJOメンバーはもちろんのこと、メンバーではないけど日本語教育に興味のある方、ATJOに興味のある方の参加も大歓迎です。
During vacations, instead of Benkyoukai study groups, we have casual meetings on an irregular basis to exchange information and foster connections between Japanese teachers. We welcome not only ATJO members but also non-members who are interested in Japanese language education or the ATJO.

This fair is held every year to promote Japanese language education and culture by connecting Japanese language learners of different ages and proficiency levels!
Japanese students in the US and people in Japan meet virtually to engage in quiz games and virtually tour locations in Japan.
In 2021, we toured the Temari guest house and a local shrine in Tottori.
In 2022, we toured Ogaki Higashi HS in Gifu.
In 2023, we toured a Kyūdō Dōjō in Kumamoto.

違う年齢の、そして様々なレベルの日本語学習者の縦の関係をつなげて、日本語教育や日本文化を促進していこうと、オンライン・友だちフェアを企画しました!
高校、大学、JET同窓生や、学校に日本語プログラムはないけど日本語を勉強している、したい、またはしていた人たち、みんな大歓迎です。先生方やATJOパートナーの皆様は見学することができます。
ゲームや日本の参加者と繋げてのバーチャル観光など、内容盛り沢山です!

This is an news article about the event in the local newspaper in Tottori, called 日本海新聞. There was a reporter with Kanako-san at the site and I was interviewed after the event. I thought it was kind of nice that the connection between Oregon and Tottori was featured in their local newspaper! People in Tottori may get to know about Oregon through this article and they might come to Oregon some day?!
1991年に始まった日本語を高校で学習している生徒さんとオレゴン在住の日本人家庭をATJOがつなぐ、ユニークなホームステイ企画です!
Teachers can arrange, through ATJO, for a handful of their students to visit the families of Japanese workers staying in Oregon, experiencing staying with a Japanese family without having to go to Japan.
LLE/企業訪問は、大学で日本語を勉強している学生が Salem と Portland 近郊の日 本企業または日本関連のビジネスを行っている会社にお邪魔して、ビジネスや文化 についてお話を伺うというものです。毎年、商工会と ATJO で提 供されています。
Japanese businesses from Portland and the surrounding area open their workplaces to college students studying Japanese in order to share and communicate their culture and business practices.
「先生や友達以外の日本人と話し、新しい場面で日本語を練習し、さらに学習意欲を高めてもらいたい」
商工会の皆様にこの気持ちを共有し、ご理解をいただき、そうして生まれた企画です。
Teachers can arrange, through ATJO, for Shokookai members to visit their university to provide an opportunity for Japanese-language students to not only speak with Japanese people other than their teachers, but also consider employment at Japanese companies.
