Astronomical Events

Jupiter's orbit around the Sun will carry it to its closest point to the Earth – its perigee – passing within 3.98 AU of us. 

Jupiter will reach opposition, when it lies opposite to the Sun in the sky. Lying in the constellation Aries,and will be visible for much of the night. 

The Moon and Venus will share the same right ascension, with the Moon passing 1°00' to the north of Venus.At around the same time, the two objects will also make a close approach, technically called an appulse. 

The Northern Taurid meteor shower will be active from 20 October to 10 December, producing its peak rate of meteors around 12 November. 

Uranus will reach opposition, when it lies opposite to the Sun in the sky. Lying in the constellation Aries, it will be visible for much of the night. 

The Leonid meteor shower will be active from 6 November to 30 November, producing its peak rate of meteors around 18 November. 

On. 18 November, The Pleiades open star cluster (M45; mag 1.6) in Taurus will reach its highest point in the sky at 00:21, 89° above your northern horizon.

The Moon and Saturn will share the same right ascension, with the Moon passing 2°43' to the south of Saturn.At around the same time, the two objects will also make a close approach, technically called an appulse. 

The α-Monocerotid meteor shower will be active from 15 November to 25 November, producing its peak rate of meteors around 22 November.

The November Orionid meteor shower will be active from 13 November to 6 December, producing its peak rate of meteors around 28 November. 

The Hyades open star cluster (Collinder 50; mag 1.0) in Taurus will reach its highest point in the sky at 00:21, 82° above your southern horizon.
