The Aurigid meteor shower will be active from 28 August to 5 September, producing its peak rate of meteors around 1 September.

The Moon and Jupiter will share the same right ascension, with the Moon passing 3°18' to the north of Jupiter.At around the same time, the two objects will also make a close approach, technically called an appulse.
