creating real life rooms with puzzles that are integrated into the room design
combining tech with theinterior design
make people focus on things they don't usually have to pay attention to (like fine print on a tax form)
source objects form real life places
add magical moments to the experience - people get excited when they have the chance to do something they've only done in movies
set the scene with details and props, but make sure people don't get too fixated on them
no red herrings on purpose
for playtesting, get the room as close to the experience as possible, sit in the room (they pretend you're not there) and take notes as people do the experience on what they focus on and see the most
give players a dangling carrot - something to tell them that there is something in the direction they're looking in
give them something to find/fixate on or they'll get frustrated
for mine, try to get 3 groups for final playtesting at a minimum
finishing the counter

platform getting has moved to next week because a truck is broken...
