-made 3 boxes that get opened by servos
-finished the panel for the first puzzle (fake circuit board)
-figured out how to make the wires for the first puzzle and made half of the needed number
-connected the launch buttons together and made the module for the buttons
-realized the door might just have to be a curtain. Have to limit my expectations for this even though I have some grand plans
-started the star chart
-made 3 new compartments (over 1/3rd through all needed)
-modeled the color wheel
-almost done with fuse puzzle
-got some paint
-it's not even worth talking about the floor. It'll happen or it won't and we'll just have carpet
-finish first puzzle completely
-model constellation cards
-finish fuses
-finish color wheel
-make more boxes
-finish code...hopefully
-get all electronics soldered (want to also use spade connectors so that I can just connect everything in the space without soldering there)
I talked with Jordan, the technical director at the CU Scene Shop.
Detail work:
-work on eye level stuff first
-don't spend time doing details for things people won't really pay attention to
-focus on the items people will physically be interacting with
-take shortcuts - use commercially available items and modify them to fit your needs
Time frame struggles:
-don't focus on any detail or refining yet
-don't need to be completely perfectly done by march finish date, just need it to be working and usable
-time to refine later
Playtesting
-get brutally honest feedback
-get people in the physical space as soon as possible
-if possible, use a surrogate to ask players for feedback so they can feel comfortable being honest with their reviews
-needs to be anonymous so that people are comfortable giving feedback
I have another meeting scheduled that will be in person in the space so I can get feedback on the set I'm building and the interactive pieces.
