Belief in Every Student's Potential:

As a school counselor, I believe that each student, regardless of their background or abilities, has the potential to learn and achieve success. Every student should be granted the access and opportunity for a high-quality education. School counseling programs are tools to promote and heighten academic, career, and social/emotional successes of students. Successful school counseling services are student-centered, goal-oriented, data-driven, and founded on the progressive abilities of every student.

Access to Counseling Programs:

Every student should have access to school counseling programs, resources, and tools. Students' diversity in ethnicity, culture, race, sexuality, and ability differences should be appreciated and considered when preparing, implementing, and reviewing a school counseling program.

Commitment as a Future School Counselor:

As a professional future school counselor, I will:

Professional Accountability and Advocacy:

I will keep myself accountable to the American School Counseling Association’s professional ethics, mindsets, and behaviors for school counselors. I will support staff and faculty in acknowledging and addressing diverse student challenges. Utilizing the school’s mission, I will encourage academic, social, and emotional achievements for the students.

Role in Curriculum Development and Community Engagement:

I will plan and develop a curriculum that is consistent and flexible to fit the needs of the students I am working with. I will maintain consistent resources and communication with local businesses in the community that will be available to students.

Leadership and Social Justice:

Understanding my role as a leader and advocate for my school and my students, I will hold myself accountable as a professional role model and encourage social justice and equality throughout my school and community.
