The competent teacher has foundational knowledge of reading, writing, and oral communication within the content area and recognizes and addresses student reading, writing, and oral communication needs to facilitate the acquisition of content knowledge.
Standard 6H says that the competent teacher understands how to use a variety of formal and informal assessments to recognize and address the reading, writing, and oral communication needs of each student.
During one of my placements I completed a student assessment project about a student's reading placement. I did a couple word and reading tests with the student and analyzed how best to help the student succeed.
I made plans for books they might enjoy and ways of engaging the student to make them love reading again.
During my time with the high scholl studetns I created a lesson about how to paitn on records. I created slides depicted how to paint on records and the requirements they should meet to have their paintis turn out how they want.
I also created a planning worksheet for my students so they could come with up lots of ideas, and think through how they could accomplish it. I intergrated oral and written communication so studetns could best achieve their goals.
