The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning. This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student.
Guessing Game Examples
In a high school setting to maximize student engagement I would create content area guessing games to start the class. I wanted to create something the students would be interested in as well as a way for them to learn what they would be accomplishing that day.
This fits with standard 5F, that the competent teacher knows strategies to maximize student attentiveness and engagement.
THis was a reseacrh project I did for my SPED class. We researched a type of disability a student might have and made handouts and slides educating the rest of the class in the research we found.
Through this project I learned how to better prepare for the different types of students I may have and the needs they might need.
