Business Rules
Business Rules
To be a vendor at Artist Alley Shop, you must be legally authorized to operate a business in Canada.
Eligible statuses include Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residency, an open work permit, or a study permit with work authorization. In addition, your business and the bank account you use for your business activity must be based in Canada.
Artist Alley Shop doesn't own any of the artists' creations and acts solely as a sales intermediary.
Having insurance for your business is recommended to protect your creations from unforeseen events.
While we can’t take responsibility for rare situations beyond our control, such as theft, vandalism, or natural disasters, please know that we do everything possible and take every step to keep the space safe and secure. The shop is monitored 24/7 with cameras, and interior safety fences are also in place to help prevent robbery. In addition, a security guard is on site during opening hours to help protect your creations, our team, and our customers. Footage can be provided if ever needed.
Shelf sharing between multiple artists is not allowed. However, artist collectives operating under a single brand are welcome, as long as all products are presented under that brand without separation by individual creators. For brands that represent multiple artists, only one designated person or entity will be responsible for the vendor portal, rent payments, and sales payouts. Sub-leasing a spot to another artist is not allowed.
Product Rules
The vendor's products must be designed by the vendor and can be manufactured in Canada or elsewhere.
Below is the list of things prohibited from selling:
Stolen art or traced art
Art made by Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Political, extreme violence/gore, pornographic, and erotic content (these don't apply to our Explicit art area artists)
The reselling of existing products not created or designed by the vendor, that can be found on dropshipping sites like Aliexpress, Temu, etc...
We welcome creative works inspired by existing media, but vendors are fully responsible for making sure their products respect copyright and intellectual property laws. Artist Alley Shop does not take responsibility for checking whether you have the rights to create the art you sell; any first-party intellectual rights infringement and legal responsibility rests with the vendor.
If we are contacted by an IP owner regarding a copyright issue, we reserve the right to immediately remove the concerned products from the shop.
Reinterpretations or redraws may be accepted if they bring something original to a product, and these are reviewed on an individual basis.
If you're unsure if your product is allowed, we strongly recommend you reach out to us first.
Adding any products that don't comply with our product rules will lead to a warning notice and the removal of the concerned products.
If you have any concerns over specific products, please contact us.
