Flower Anatomy
This unit was a one week science and art integrated unit. As our school had to delay returning to hybrid, my co-teacher and I had an extra week with our online students. Thus we designed a lesson in biological illustration and flower anatomy. The students really enjoyed the opportunity to work with their hands, both as illustrators and in the flower dissection lesson. In the digital environment, they are often stuck on the computer, so we consciously designed this unit to get them away from the screen. This lesson went so well, and there are so many techniques we did not get to try, so in the future I would love to teach a month long exploration in an arts-integrated science class of recording, illustration, diagrams, and dissection.
