This is an ongoing months-long drawing exploration for our 6-8th grade science class. The students are studying ocean ecology. As part of this study we are making a field booklet with diagrams of the different ocean zones and a selection of animals from each zone. Each animal is drawn in the black and white biological illustration style, and accompanied by a description. In this lesson the students learn and practice different methods of shading anf line work, as well as proportion and some basic anatomy. The student's are doing excellently and I am incredibly proud of how they have been able to focus and produce good work despite our distance learning envionrment.
One bonus from distance learning is that students can re-watch the lesson if they missed class, or if they fell behind or want a refresher at any point. :) We make the most of it. Here is one example anonomized for this website. The students have access to all lessons in our shared and secure school google drive.
