This course is a fun, hands-on, and creative course offering an overview of visual arts as a foundation for further study. Students will be introduced to a variety of different media (such as sculpture, drawing, and painting) and materials to create artworks. Students' artworks will integrate colour theory as well as the fundamental components of design known as the elements and principles. Students will learn how to think critically by analyzing various pieces of art and reflecting upon their own work. Additionally, students will also study particular historical art periods and cultures such as Prehistoric, Ancient Egyptian and First Nations. This course is an excellent option for students who would like to explore their creative voice, improve on their artistic skill, or simply to meet the art elective requirement in order to graduate.
