Some Notes
The main course is built on the lecture notes of David Tong and several books including the classic by Peskin and Schroeder. Below are some notes on specific topics which are not readily available in the above sources.
Aspects of Classical Field Theory
These notes deal principally with the notion of symmetries in classical field theory. Noether's theorem is explained and proved in different ways. The inverse of Noether's theorem, or how to get from conserved charges to symmetries is also addressed.
Quantizing fermions
These notes describe a group theoretic way of getting to the Dirac equation and then discuss building the Dirac Lagrangian. Finally, fermions are quantized.
Quantum Electrodynamics
These notes describe the Routhian procedure of quantizing free electrodynamics and then putting in interactions to obtain QED in the same formulation.
