Practical Information

Getting from Lucknow airport to IIT Kanpur

Many of you are arriving at the Lucknow airport and in view of the many different anticipated timings, we are not arranging any pick up. You can take a cab directly from the airport and arrive at IIT Kanpur.  The journey takes about two hours. The price should be around 3000 INR (plus toll taxes).

If you feel more comfortable about cab drivers associated with IITK directly, you can book with them directly. The numbers are given below. We have told them about the workshop and external participants. The arrangements are completely between you and the cab drivers. Just let them know you are coming for a conference organised by Arjun Bagchi.

Phone numbers of cab drivers associated with IIT Kanpur

Mahesh Yadav: +919935038221.
Mahendra Yadav: +917753827412.

Getting from Kanpur airport to IIT Kanpur

Kanpur has a new airport with daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. For those of you taking your flights directly to Kanpur, you can get a cab to IIT Kanpur. The journey should be about 40 minutes and the price of the cab about 1000 INR. Again feel free to call one of the cab drivers associated with IITK.

Once you reach IIT Kanpur

External participants are housed either in the Main guest house (VH-1) or in the International guest house (VH-2). Please take your cab to VH-1 first to check where you are. If required, ask the cab to drop you off to VH-2.

Venue

The venue for the conference would be the "big class room" in the PBCEC just beside main guest house. All the talks (unless otherwise announced) would be held there.

Food

Breakfast would be arranged at the guest house you are in.

We would have lunch in the main guest house.

Dinners we leave at your discretion. There are a lot of little joints and canteens all over the campus which serve good food. You can also have dinner at the guest house. But you will need to inform the staff there before lunch time on the same day.

Local Phone numbers

If any one requires help of people on campus, we are obviously here to help you. Here are a few numbers you can keep handy. These are all members of the string theory group.
