Welcome to the Learning Assistant Training Modules! After completing these modules, you will be able to:


  • Describe the Instructional-Teams Model.

  • Describe the general goals of the Learning Assistant role on the instructional team.

  • Identify ways to create connections with students enrolled in the course.

  • Identify and utilize best practices for learning.

  • Formulate high-quality questions to help support student learning.

  • Define and encourage growth mindset and metacognition.

  3. Read: A Newcomer's Guide to the Instructional-Teams Project

  4. Make a copy of the Learning Assistant Training Notebook google doc. Instructions for adding to your personal Google Drive or saving as a Word Document can be found here.

  5. Share your copy of the document with the instructor with whom you are working as an LA, so that they can check your progress, provide feedback, and collaborate on certain entries.

  6. Complete the Start Here section in your copy of the Learning Assistant Training Notebook

  • Note: All UArizona instructional-team members are REQUIRED to complete FERPA training for Instructors and Instructional Support Teams before beginning their roles.
