Getting Started with a Team
Read: Recruiting a Team
Copy: Before, During, & After Task Chart. Instructions for adding to your personal Google Drive or saving as a Word Document can be found here.
Complete: Before, During, and After Task Chart. List all of the tasks you must undertake before, during, and after your course to make sure it runs smoothly. Consider whether you could delegate each task to a different member of your team and/or what it might take for you to be comfortable delegating tasks. Work with your team members to establish expectations for each of their new responsibilities.
Training: All University of Arizona Team Members must complete FERPA Training for Instructors and Instructional Teams before beginning their roles.
Instructional Manager
Read: Overview: Understanding the Instructional Manager Role
Read: Areas of Management
Read: What Role Should be Assigned in your Learning Management System. Our examples will be using D2L Brightspace
Learning Researcher
Read: Learning Researchers, an article from the Instructional-Teams Project outlining the Learning Researcher role:
Kim, Y., Cox, J., Southard, K. M., Elfring, L., Blowers, P. & Talanquer, V. (May, 2019). Learning Researchers: Promoting Formative Assessment in STEM Courses. Journal of College Science Teaching.
Read: Making a Formative Assessment Plan. This document contains links to three different templates for Learning Researcher Reports. Some instructors have found these reports, with some course specific modifications, to be helpful when collecting Formative Assessment Information from the Learning Researcher. Other instructors prefer to have less formal conversations or written narratives to collect information about student thinking. The best way to collect Formative Assessment information is in a way the information will be useful to you!
