Employment Suitability Profile

Module 3 Description/Overview:

In this module, you will be completing the Employment Suitability Profile document. This module gives you the opportunity to compare the job requirements to your qualifications and identify your needs for a skills upgrade or certification

Getting Started:

Word Format | Example 

If using Google Docs to complete your documents: Do not click "request edit access". Instead, select "File" then "Save as Google Docs". This will copy the document into your private Google Drive. 

To get started with this module, select 1 of the 3 job leads (from Module 2) that you would like to use for the Employment Suitability Profile document.

Instructions:

Step 1:  Of your 3 job leads identified in Module 2, select one that you would like to pursue that matches your skills, interest, and workplace values.

Step 2:  Find and review the comprehensive and detailed job opening for the selected job lead.

Step 3:  Referring to the job posting you found, complete the EMPLOYER COLUMN (REQUIREMENTS) on your ESP document.

A.  Computer Skills- required computer skills, software programs, and levels of proficiency

B.  Education Level - required education (high school diploma, GED, bachelor’s Degree, master’s Degree, etc.)

C.  Years’ Experience - Amount of work experience required to be eligible for employment.

D. Licenses and/or Certifications - Required state and/or national licenses, certifications, or additional clearances.

E.  Soft Skills Required - personal attributes requested by the employer (strong work ethic, time management, communication, positive attitude).

F.   Workplace Personality - preferred work styles (innovative, detail oriented, analytical thinker, strong initiative, etc.) 

Step 4Next, complete the EMPLOYEE COLUMN (YOUR QUALIFICATIONS)

A.  Document what computer skills, education, work experience, licenses, and certifications that you possess.

B.  Document the soft skills you possess and preferred work style. 

Step 5Identify Gaps Between

   A.  The employer’s requirements and your qualifications 

Step 6:  Identify Solutions (How can you fill that gap?)

A.  Skills Upgrade

B.  Re-Career

C.  Career Coaching and Job Search Techniques

a.  Networking Techniques

b.  Cover Letter/Resume Development

c.   Interviewing Skills 

Step 7:  Become the Perfect Match

A.  Utilize the “Elevator Speech” to communicate how you would be fit for the position.

Step 8:  Submit your completed module 3 to your assigned trainer for review.
