CRIBELLATES+

Here are included all the families traditionally joined together by the presence of a cribellum, the sieve-like spinning plate placed at front of spinnerets. Some phylogenetic results have allowed us to better understand the evolution of this important character within the base of the Entelegynae spiders, and we can currently see that some of these groups have no direct evolutionary relationship with each other. In this way, within 'Cribellates+' it is possible to find some families that, apparently, have secondarily lost the cribellum, such as Hersiliidae or Zodariidae, placed at base or as sister groups of the RTA clade. Here we can also find the typical marronoids, such as Amaurobiidae or Dictynidae.
