Can Honey Bees Be Removed Without Killing Them?

Smoke

The most effective method of keeping honey bees away from your home is probably to use smoke. Smoke causes honey bees to assume a forest fire, so they leave when they smell it and most likely will never return. Burn dead firewood and cardboard right under the beehive to create a smoky fire. Keep your distance from the smoked-out bees. It is best to return inside if they become agitated.

Peppermint

Honey bees do not like the strong smell of peppermint. Peppermint plants can be planted in areas of your house that you don’t want bees to visit. Peppermint can help drive the bees away, plus you can use it whenever you need it.

Cinnamon

Honey bees are repelled by cinnamon’s strong smell. Sprinkle cinnamon on areas where you wish to repel a bee swarm. For it to last longer, you will need to do it every day for about a week. It’s a suitable method for driving bees away from your home but not entirely from your yard. This method should work for people who don’t mind bees overly close to their home but don’t want them around their porch or door.

Citronella

Most bees and mosquitoes are attracted to citronella. Citronella candles can be used to get bees out of hives that are inside. Getting them to leave won’t be easy, but it won’t harm them. Candles must be burned for several days in order to be effective. Windy or rainy weather will deter the bumble bees from going outside, so choose a day when it is not windy or wet.
