Acculturation: 

The process through which individuals or groups from one culture adopt and integrate elements of another culture, leading to mutual cultural influence The adoption of Italian culinary traditions, such as pasta and risotto, by Swiss residents showcases acculturation as they integrate aspects of the Italian cultural heritage into their daily lives.

Assimilation: 

The process through which people lose originally differentiating traits when they come into contact with another society or culture  For example, Someone from a small Swiss village moves to the city in Zurich. They start living like city folks, changing the way they eat, adapting to the faster lifestyle, and becoming part of city culture. They mostly let go of their old village habits and fully blend into the city way of life.

Syncretism: 

Syncretism refers to the blending or merging of different cultural or religious traditions, resulting in a new, often harmonized, and hybrid form.  Syncretism is evident in the blending of traditional Swiss carnival festivities with elements inspired by global pop culture. Local customs, such as masked parades and traditional music.

Multiculturalism: 

In Zurich, neighborhoods reflect multiculturalism as residents from Swiss, Italian, Turkish, and other backgrounds live together. They organize events such as cultural festivals, where Swiss traditions blend with Italian and Turkish customs. 

Navtivism : 

Nativism is a political stance or policy that favors the interests and rights of established inhabitants over those of immigrants. In Switzerland, nativist sentiments may be expressed by groups concerned about the impact of immigration on local culture and advocating for policies that prioritize the well-being of native residents.
